Employee Assistance Program
What is an Employee Assistance Program?
Very simply, it is just what it sounds like - assistance to employees. This program provides free, confidential and professional assistance to help Township of Ocean employees and their families resolve problems that effect their personal lives or job performance.
How Does the Program Work?
The Department of Human Services provides short-term counseling and referral services. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services are available to all Township employees and their families. The trained professionals of this department provide assistance in identifying the nature and extent of problems and taking the necessary steps to solve them.
A request for help may be initiated by the employee or the family. Simply call the Human Services Department and an appointment will be arranged. Employees may also be referred by their supervisor.
Why is a Program Like This Needed?
Each of us, regardless of our position in the organization, face a variety of problems in our daily lives. Usually we can work them out. Sometimes our problems become too much for us to handle alone and they affect our personal happiness, our family relations, our performance at work, and even our health. When this occurs we may need professional assistance in resolving them. Without proper attention, these problems usually become worse and the consequences are often unpleasant and expensive.
Since an employee’s personal well-being and work performance can be affected by the problems of their family, this program is also made available to the family. This hopefully can help correct family problems before they can affect the employee’s performance at work.
What is the Cost of This Service?
The EAP is free to all Township of Ocean employees and their immediate families. The township, recognizing the value of its employees and the importance of such assistance, provides for the cost of the service. If referral services are needed, they may be covered by the employees health insurance.
How to Obtain Services
Call the Human Services Department at 732-531-2600, Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 and identify yourself as an employee or a family member. An appointment will be made for a convenient time.
