To safely dispose of used syringes or needles please place them into a FDA approved sharps container or into a heavy duty plastic container such as a laundry detergent or bleach bottle.  The bottles should be sturdy, puncture resistant and should not leak. Do not use coffee cans since the plastic lids can come off easily.  Be sure to close the screw on lid tightly, secure the lid with duct tape and label the sealed container "Do NOT Recycle-Contains Sharps".  The container should then go in your household trash - NOT recycling.
